Fredrick Wells Tedder, age 83, passed peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014, in Carthage, TX. He was born Jan. 15, 1931, in Knoxville, TN to Thomas and Ruth Tedder who preceded him in death along with three brothers, K.A. "Joe", Robert, and Dickie Tedder. Mr. Tedder attended Central High School in Knoxville, the University of Tennessee, and Texas Christian. He joined the Navy in 1950, where he served as a medic, spent time in Japan, and survived his ship being torpedoed. He worked for ABC Liquor Company, supervising multiple stores in Orlando, FL until his retirement. Fred enjoyed many things in life including playing golf and cribbage. He loved the Tennessee Mountains and visiting Lake Norris with his family. Mr. Tedder has been a resident of Panola Nursing Home for 4 years, where his daughter, Tami Sharbaugh along with his great-grandchildren, Chance and Mia Chaple visited and watched over him.
Mr. Tedder is survived by his sister, Ellen Crowther of Winston Salem, NC; two daughters, Tish Frish of Hudson, ME and Tami Sharbaugh of Carthage, TX; and five grandchildren, Michelle Chapel of NJ, Michael Weaver of FL, Melissa Popple of FL, Lance Sharbaugh of FL, and Zachariah Frish of ME. Mr. Tedder loved his nieces and nephews, sons-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and their families. To his delight, he has 12 great-grandchildren.
The "melody" of his life will be missed.
A small memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, at Panola Nursing Home.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Knoxville, TN.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
