Frankie Mae Chappell, 90, of Carthage, was joyfully welcomed into eternity and awarded her heavenly crown on February 7, 2026, when she entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Frankie was born on January 16, 1936, in High, Texas, to Braswell and Pauline Endsley, who raised her in a loving Christian home that shaped her faith and values throughout her life.
Raised in a close-knit farming community, Frankie learned the value of hard work at an early age, picking cotton as soon as she was big enough to pull a cotton sack. These early lessons in perseverance and dedication remained with her always.
On September 16, 1958, Frankie married the love of her life, Wayne Chappell. Together they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love, faith, and adventure. They lived in various parts of Texas and also in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and were blessed with one son, Brad.
After graduating from high school, Frankie transitioned from farm life into the workforce, holding positions in a dental office, an insurance office, and ultimately spending the majority of her career as a bank teller.
Frankie was a devoted Christian who boldly professed her faith in God. Wherever life took her, her first priority was finding a church home and becoming an active part of her church family. When faced with any need—her own or that of a loved one—Frankie faithfully sought God’s divine intervention. Even on her final day, her faith remained steadfast and unwavering.
Frankie greatly enjoyed traveling across the country with Wayne, delighting in the beauty of God’s creation. She learned the art of sewing from her mother and became a masterful seamstress. Creative and talented, Frankie loved designing home décor for herself and others and was a self-taught artist who created vibrant canvas paintings.
A devoted wife, Frankie adored her husband and always looked forward to their next adventure together. She was a loving and attentive mother, generous with her time and care. In her middle years, she joyfully embraced the role of “Nana” to her grandson, and in later years she was especially thrilled to spend time with her great-grandsons. Frankie cherished not only her immediate family but also her extended family, holding each one close to her heart.
Frankie was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Martha Blackshear; her brother-in-law, Bill Blackshear; nieces Denise Harbison and Dahl Pullins, all of Paris; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who were dear to her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Wayne Chappell; her son, Brad Chappell, and his wife, Charmaine; her grandson, J.W. Chappell, and his wife, Allyson; and her great-grandsons, Liam and Brenton Chappell, all of Carthage. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Melba Springer, and husband, Howard, of Plano; step-daughter, Cally Evans, and husband, Curtis, of Keller; nieces Dianne Falls and Krista Olszewski; special cousins Jeanne Honea, Mildred Haygood, Benny Jewell, Frank Jewell, and Danny Joe Jewell; and special friend, Beth Harris.
The Chappell family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff of Briarcliff Nursing Facility for their unwavering love and compassionate care shown to “Mrs. Frankie” over the past two years.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Aaron Bequette officiating. Interment will follow in Deadwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.
