Graveside services for Mrs. Frances W. Lyle, age 98, of Austin, TX formerly of Carthage, TX, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Oddfellows Cemetery in Carthage with Rev. Keefe Cropper officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Frances passed on to the grace of her Savior on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, while living in Austin

Frances was born Dec. 30, 1912, in Ore City, TX to Memory and Blanche Wright, the third of their five children. She grew up in Henderson, TX the daughter of a public servant and grocery store owner. In her late teens Frances attained an Associates Degree from Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, TX before returning to work in Henderson and Longview until the outbreak of WWII. Frances wed Roy Walter Lyle, originally from El Dorado, AR on January 8, 1944, during one of Roy's leave periods from the US Navy. After Roy's postings in Norfork, VA and San Diego, CA, the end of the war brought them back to Henderson where their only child James Aubrey (Jim) Lyle was born. In 1948, the little family moved to Carthage, TX when the Carthage Gas Plant was built. Frances' involvement with the First United Methodist Church of Carthage started then as an active, regular choir member, Sunday school teacher and dedicated church worker. In 1953, the development of the East Texas natural gas industry required building a new gas plant in Marshall, TX where the family moved. The Summit United Methodist Church became the recipient of Frances' talents for the next 16 years. After a brief stint in Hamlin, TX Roy and Frances moved back to Carthage where they resided till Roy's passing in 1994. Frances has made wonderful friends and has family throughout East Texas that have sustained her until she moved to Austin, TX in 2002, to be closer to her son and daughter in law, Carol. Frances was preceded to heaven by her sisters; Irma Milstead, Hazel Wright, Ellen Rouge, and Betty Streeter.

Mrs. Lyle is survived by her son, Jim A. Lyle and wife Carol of Austin; her beloved brother, M. G. Wright of Longview; two granddaughters Brittany Lyle Jovich of Roseville, CA and Kristina Helene Lyle of Dallas; and two great-grandsons Nicholas and Luke who are the sons of Brittany and Scott Jovich.
