Funeral services for Floyd W. Whitaker, 59 of Shreveport, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2006 at Grace Community UMC with the pastoral staff officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Rehobeth Cemetery near Carthage. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday evening at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home in Carthage. Mr. Whitaker passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 in Shreveport.
Floyd Wesley Whitaker was born on August 11, 1946 in Shreveport to Cleo W. and Flora Wiggins Whitaker. He was a caring husband, loving father and grandfather, brother, and friend. He was a member of Grace Community UMC. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Whitaker is survived by his wife of 38 years, Corinne Phylis Whitaker; son, Wesley Whitaker; two daughters, Darlene and Elizabeth Whitaker; two brothers, Paul Whitaker and Glen Whitaker; three grandchildren, Sadie, Aaron, and Taylor Whitaker; and special friends, Dee Dee Soloman and Joe Atterbury.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for the loving support given to Floyd and his family by the members of Grace Community UMC and the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Willis-Knighton North, 5th floor I.C.U.
