Funeral services for Mr. Floyd W. Choate, age 83, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dale Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Choate passed away on Tuesday night, July 31, 2012, in Shreveport, LA.
Mr. Floyd Waymon Choate was born on Feb. 18, 1929, in the Antioch Community of Panola County, TX to Marvin Bishop and Opal Hudson Choate. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1946. Mr. Choate married Amanda Rose Needham on July 14, 1950, in Clayton, TX. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. Mr. Choate worked in the Oil & Gas Industry during his career, retiring from R. Lacy, Inc. as a meter technician. He loved fishing, gardening, and going to the farm. Mr. Choate was of the Baptist faith and attended Carthage Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marline Salter and Dorothy Nell Choate.
Mr. Choate is survived by his wife of 62 years, Amanda Choate of Carthage; two sons, Mike Choate and wife Linda of Nacogdoches and Jeffery Choate and wife Lori of Benton, LA; four grandchildren, Amanda Choate, Carolyn Jeannine McGown and husband Simon, Suzanne Choate, and Meaghan Choate; and special friends, Richard and Frances Hoell and their children, Tracy Holland and Lee Hoell all of Carthage.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bob Fleming, Larry Davis, Cory Holland, Hank Twomey, Charles Barber, Lee Hoell, Gerald Burns, Bill Peace, and Kevin Ashby.
