Mr. Bush passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2007 in Carthage.

Floyd Freeman Bush was born on June 27, 1919 in Butler, Oklahoma to Emory Leo and Mable Clara Tippens Bush. He graduated from Pie Flat High School near Butler in 1938. He married Latina Doris Mathews on January 17, 1941 in Elk City, Oklahoma. Together, they celebrated over 66 years of marriage, always working as a team whether it was picking cotton or working the chicken houses. After their marriage, Mr. Bush farmed his family's land, near Butler, with his wife and children. In 1954, Mr. Bush moved to Carthage where he worked for his aunt and uncle, Freeman and Nellie Bush, at the Carthage Locker Plant. He moved to California for a brief period before returning to Carthage and buying the Locker Plant. In 1970, Mr. Bush "retired" from the Locker Plant to his family farm in the Murvaul Community to build four broiler houses that produced 52,000 chickens every six to eight weeks. In 1984, Mr. Bush "retired" for a second time and moved into town. He began gardening and working with wood as hobbies. Everything he built in the woodshop was done seventeen times: one for Mama, one for each child, one for each grandchild, and often he would make things for friends. He worked hard at everything he set out to accomplish. He was an elder in the Church of Christ, a man of strong faith, and he set a Christian example for his family to which he loved unselfishly. God and family were his priorities. Mr. Bush was thankful to have lived to enjoy his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren grow up. Mr. Bush is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lorene Bush; and three brothers, Emory Bush, Woodrow Bush, and Elvin Bush.

Mr. Bush is survived by his wife of 66 years, Latina Doris Bush of Carthage; two sons, Floyd Eugene Bush and wife Vicki of Livingston, James Marlin Bush and wife Sharon of Carthage; two daughters, Lorene Bush Rhiddlehoover and husband Jim of Carthage, and Deanna Bush McKnight and husband Larry of Carthage; twelve grandchildren, Jimmy Rhiddlehoover, Jr. and wife Joy, Jeff McKnight and wife Bonnie, David Bush and wife Jana, Mark Bush and wife Jenny, Rachael Rhiddlehoover Goolsby and husband Scott, Lori Rhiddlehoover Urban and husband Rodney, Staci Bush Davis and husband Mark, Amy Bush Clinton and husband Don, Kiley Bush Schumacher and husband Shawn, Janan Bush Moore and husband Mark, Shelly Bush Moore, and Melissa McKnight Briggs; and twenty-eight great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers are Mr. Bush's grandsons, Jimmy Rhiddlehoover, Jr., Jeff McKnight, David Bush, Mark Bush, Scott Goolsby, Rodney Urban, Mark Davis, Don Clinton, Shawn Schumacher, and Mark Moore. Serving as honorary pallbearer is Leroy Griffith.
