A memorial service for Mr. Floyd Raymond "Buddy" Gibbs, age 73, of DeBerry, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church with Pastor David Urban officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow at Panola Mt. Zion Cemetery. Mr. Gibbs passed away on Tuesday evening, Jan. 1, 2013, in Shreveport, LA.
Floyd Raymond "Buddy" Gibbs was born on Feb. 3, 1939, in DeBerry, TX to Minor Wimberly and Nobie Mae Timmons Gibbs. He worked as an oilfield pumper for Vernon Faulconer until his retirement. He married Nan Ruth Wheless on Aug. 13, 1969, in Marshall and loved her with all of his heart. He had the biggest heart, loved his family and strangers, was a people person, and had a joke for every situation. He also enjoyed carrying all of the kids on his scooter. He had lived his lifetime in DeBerry and was a member of the Mt. Zion U.M.C. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, who passed away on Oct. 18, 2011; and five sisters, Trica Noble, Annie Mae Cole,Dora Jones, Nola Bell Beason and Jackie Moore.
Mr. Gibbs is survived by one son, Gene Raymond Gibbs and Stephanie Reanee Bolan Gibbs of DeBerry; two daughters, DeVonna Gibbs Warner and husband Wendell of Waskom and Margaret Gibbs Shimell and husband Leonard of Splendora; two brothers, Blackie Gibbs and wife Brenda of Kilgore and Chubby Gibbs and wife Sandra of Canton, MO; special friend, Ronnie Gene Oden of DeBerry; four grandchildren, Jody Pieper and wife Kristin, Wendy Warner, Shyann Gibbs, and Victoria Reanee Bolan; two great-grandchildren, Carlee and Case Pieper.
