A funeral service for Mrs. Florence "Noogen" Reeh, age 88, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Sides of Wildwood Church of Christ officiating. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Turner Branch Cemetery in Spurger, TX. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Reeh passed away on Sunday morning, April 14, 2013, at Carthage Healthcare Center in Carthage.
Florence Faye Stone Reeh, nicknamed "Noogen", was born on Apr. 27, 1924, in Kirbyville, TX to James Eli and Nancy Phillips Stone. She lived in Silsbee, TX for many years and she and her family were members of the Church of Christ. Her education includes high school, OJT accounting, in Orange, TX, journalism courses, and radio and communications courses at Port Arthur College and Lamar University. She received secretarial training at Henderson Business College, several earned certificates in finance and accounting. During WWII, she worked in Orange in the shipyard in the personnel office. At the end of the war, she married Earnest Tucker and the two resided in Silsbee until his death in 1961. After remarriage, she worked at the various radio stations along side her husband Douglas assisting with advertising sales and in the office. During the 80's, she worked at South Hampton Refinery in Silsbee. She then worked at the Overton Press for several years as the editor and in the composing department. She and her husband purchased the Timpson & Tenaha News in 1993 and worked as co-publishers and she as the editor. Three years later, in 1996, they purchased a second paper in Logansport and Joaquin and ran both papers until Sept. of 2000 when the Logansport Joaquin Tribune was sold. She enjoyed attending many events in Timpson and Tenaha at the civic arenas and the schools. The Reeh's were grateful for the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people in Shelby County with whom they formed a warm friendship and bond. She retired only after selling the paper in 2010.
Florence and Doug were members of the Timpson and Shelby County Chambers of Commerce and the Tenaha Businessmen's Club. Her favorite articles to write in the newspaper were "Tales of Two Cities" and "Just Curious". She was also very active for many years in the Rusk County Poetry Society, having served throughout the years as President and as secretary. Through the society, she had several poems published. She had many short stories and news articles published in several Texas and Louisiana newspapers. After retirement, she was even more active in church activities and classes and truly enjoyed the fellowship with her friends and members of the Church of Christ in Carthage.
Mrs. Reeh was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Tucker who passed away in 1961; her husband Douglas Reeh who passed away in 2008; her parents; brothers, Ben Jack Kelley and Claude Stone; and sisters, Frances Kelley Reeves and Essie Stone Hicks.
Mrs. Reeh is survived by her children, Nancy Alexander and husband Lynn of Carthage, TX and Ben Tucker and wife Cindy of Haslet, TX; step-children, Kathy Dodson and husband Bobby of Port Lavaca, TX, Daryl Reeh of Port Lavaca, TX, and Galen Reeh and wife Derelyn of Round Rock, TX; grandchildren, Lee Anne Sharpe and husband Patrick of Carthage, Charlie Taylor of Carthage, Ben Tucker, Jr. and wife Amber of Carthage, and Amanda Riley and husband Jeremy of Breckenridge, TX; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kelsey, and Kolbey Sharpe, Dennis Wolf, Kylee, Cason, and Knox Tucker, Canon and Cailyn Taylor, and Azure Riley; step-grandchildren, Justin and Craig Reeh of Round Rock and Kyle Russell of Port Lavaca. Many special nieces and nephews, Ashley, Regan, and Kennedy Stanley, who have given special care and love to Florence's beloved pet, "Honey". She is also survived by her treasured friends and loving nurses and staff at Carthage Health Care Center and Heart's Way Hospice. Special thanks to each of them from the family. She is also survived by so many who were faithful to visit, call, and send cards while she was in the nursing center.
Serving as pallbearers are Patrick Sharpe, Kolbey Sharpe, Charlie Taylor, Ben Tucker, Jr., Dennis Wolf, and Tom Bales.
Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Ronnie Taylor.
