Faye Hryhorchuk, 86, of Carthage, TX, formerly of Deweyville, TX, passed away Tuesday morning, May 17, 2022, in Carthage. Anna Faye Mitchell was born on Dec. 6, 1935, in Bon Wier, Newton County, TX, to the late Ira Edgar and Thursie Ann Woodard Mitchell. Faye, as she was known by most, attended Bon Wier and Newton Schools. She was a strong and independent woman who had the opportunity to travel the world and lived in Germany, Japan, North Carolina, Alabama and Washington state before returning to Southeast Texas. There she met the love of her life. She married Eugene Sylvester Hryhorchuk on April 10, 1965, in Orange County, TX and settled in Deweyville where they raised their daughters. They enjoyed a happy and devoted marriage until his passing on Dec. 4, 2000. Mrs. Hryhorchuk worked for many years as a bookkeeper for Specialty Sand in Deweyville and later as a secretary for the Newton County Justice of the Peace office. She enjoyed her final years near her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren after moving to Carthage in 2011. She was a devoted Christian woman and a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Deweyville. She will be reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband, and siblings, Henry Franks, M. Myrece Davis, Alton "Jack" Mitchell, and Shirley R. Thompson.

She is survived by her daughter, Lanelda Soape and husband Phil; step-daughters, Claudia "Mitzie" Baker and husband Joe and Carolyn Romero; grandchildren, Angela Nicole Harden and husband Brad, Sunny Ann Bardwell and husband Baylor, Matthew P. Soape and wife Maia, Joe Romero, Brett Baker and wife Amber, and Carly Baker; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Molly Harden, Caroline Smith, Kensie, Courtlyn, and Kayman Bardwell, Ellie and Mila Soape, Joey Romero, and Brooke and Ben Baker.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Deweyville with Pastor Damon Bickham officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Deweyville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Friday at the church prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Ken Berry, Thomas Burton, Loren Green, Kenneth Hryhorchuk, Michael Mason and Tommy Thompson. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Mason, Leonard Powell, Gene Thompson, and Randy Taylor.
