Fannie Lou Roberts Thompson, 89, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 5, 2017, in Longview. She was born on July 3, 1928, in Panola County, TX to the late John Denard Roberts, Sr. and Lura Mae Hicks Roberts. She graduated from Carthage Colored High School with the class of 1946. She went on to earn her beauty operator license and worked as a beautician for over 50 years, retiring in 1993. She married Elvin Thompson, Sr. on Jan. 2, 1948, in Gary, TX and he preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1995. She lived her lifetime in Panola County and was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church where she was currently serving as Superintendent of Sunday School, Choir President, and Assistant Church Secretary. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Doritha Lee; and brother, James Roberts.

Survivors include her children, Evelyn Thompson of Missouri City, Elvin Thompson, Jr. and wife Peggy of Carthage, Marcus Henry of Carthage, and Kelsel Thompson of Dallas; siblings, John D. Roberts, Jr. of Carthage, Fatha Burchette of Carthage, and Valton Roberts, Sr. and wife Mary of Carthage; grandchildren, Shandon Lee, Shaunta Brown, Aneisha Allison, and Kenneth Henry, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Kendall Thompson, Meosha Brown, and Michael Brown, Jr. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive Mrs. Thompson.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at Walnut Grove Baptist Church with Rev. David P. Mitchell officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Thompson's body will lie in state from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Valton Roberts, Jr., Damon Roberts, Fredrick Roberts, Kendrell Rocquemore, Jason Roberts, Corey Roberts, Jermaine Wade, and Keith Roberts.

Honorary pallbearers are John D. Roberts, Jr., Valton Roberts, Sr., Leonarden Williams, Raymond King, Glenn Wade, and Rayford Roberts.
