Everett Sonier, 83, of Blanco, Texas, passed away on Monday evening, December 5, 2022, in Longview, Texas. Everett Dell Sonier was born on September 20, 1939, in Orange, Texas to the late Arthur and Cleo Shirley Simpson Sonier. He graduated from Joaquin High School where he lettered in football. He married Charlsie Rogene Reeves, in 1959, in Shelby County, Texas.  He was a gun enthusiast.  Everett served in the United States Army for 20 years before retiring. He had a 40-year career in law enforcement.  During those years, he worked on the police force in Dallas, Texas, where he was instrumental in forming the first SWAT team. Everett later served as police chief in Tatum, Texas, and finally served as police chief in Blanco, Texas where he finished out his career.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rogene Sonier; children, James Sonier and wife Robin, Roger Sonier and wife Stacey, Andrea Davis and husband Neal, Arthur Sonier and wife Norma, and Joshua Sonier and wife Jessica; grandchildren, Jamie Manning, Rachel Sumrow, Billy Sonier, Desiree` Sonier, Bryce Sonier, Nathan Davis, Zoe Sonier, Micaela Sonier, and Brandon Sonier; and seven great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Adams Cemetery in the Logan Community with Pastor James Boone officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.  A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday the funeral home.
