Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Vice Porter Orr, age 84, of Dallas, TX formerly of Beckville, TX, will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel, 1131 State Highway 149, in Carthage, TX 75633, with Rev. Jack McMahon officiating. Interment will follow in Langley Cemetery in Beckville. Mrs. Orr passed away on Monday, October 11, 2010, four days before her 85th birthday.

Evelyn Vice Porter Orr was born in Beckville to Dottie and Roy Vice. She graduated from high school in Beckville and went on to continue her education in Houston, TX. She worked as a medical assistant from 1965, until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Tomball, TX, President of the Business and Professional Women Association from 1982-1985, American Assoc. of Medical Assistants, and the American Business Women's Association where she held many titles including treasurer and bookkeeper. She enjoyed sewing, but her favorite hobby was just being outdoors working in her yard and gardening. Mrs. Orr was preceded in death by her husband of eight years Vernon C. Orr.

Mrs. Orr is survived by two granddaughters, Andrea Leigh Lasley and husband Loren, Shelia Renae Johnson and husband Sean; daughter, Mary Ann Maxwell; son, Hubert Ray Porter Sr.; two grandsons, Darrell Ray Hammond, Hubert Ray Porter, Jr.; four great grandchildren, Kenneth Loren Lasley Jr., Caitlyn Nicole Johnson, Sophia Grace Lasley, and Sutton Montgomery Lasley.

Mrs. Orr's family would like to thank the staff of Vista Care Hospice, Sunrise of Hillcrest, and Pathways Senior Living for the wonderful care she received, and all the support given to them during this difficult time.
