Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Jo Denton, age 64 of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Freddy Mason officiating. Interment will follow in the City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Denton passed away Wednesday night, January 30, 2008 in Tyler, Texas.

Eva Jo Denton was born on October 17, 1943 in Appleby, Texas to Joe and Kathryn Johnson Denton. Mrs. Denton attended Panola College. She worked as an executive secretary for Texas Utilities for many years. She moved back to Carthage in 2001 from Granbury, Texas. Mrs. Denton was of the Assembly of God faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Raymond Stockman and Fred Denton; and two sisters, Helen Siegel and Joyce Westerman.

Mrs. Denton is survived by one son, Dwain Ross and wife Gail Ann of Beckville, Texas; one daughter, Sherry Johnson and husband Eric of Jackson, Michigan; and two special nieces, Cynthia Tynes and husband Randy of Carthage and Melinda Leslie and husband Ricky of Tatum. Numerous other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Denton.
