Eunice Laverne Pope Metoyer, age 74, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Thursday morning, December 21, 2023, in Houston. She was born on May 19, 1949, in Carthage, Texas to the late Dell Curtis and Johnnie Mae Blankenship Pope. Eunice attended Turner High School. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and GG babies. Eunice worked as a driver for Enterprise Car Rental in Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jacqueline Elaine Pope; her son, Frederick Lamar Sammons; and a brother, Curtis Earl Pope.

She is survived by her daughter, LaSonya Sammons; siblings, Janice Thomas (Charles), Curtis Pope, Jr. (Amelia), Joey Pope (June), and Marie Pope; sister-in-law, Arnold Lee Pope; grandchildren, Christopher Sammons, Kierra Thomas (Deion), Frederick Lamar Sammons, Jr., and Brianna Sammons; great-grandchildren, Skylar, Imani, Ky'Ree, and Kamron; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Pine Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Justin Castleberry, Apostle Curtis Collins, Jr., and Minister Joey Pope officiating. Interment will follow in Holland's Quarter Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 11-12 at the church on Saturday prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Kamarious Pope, Darell Pope, Charles Edward Thomas, Jr., Corey Brown, Patrick Brown, and Jeff Pope.
