Funeral services for Eula Marie Heaton Pippen of Carthage will be held on Friday, August 10th at 2:00 pm at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage with Dr. William Everett and Dr. Charles Dodson officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Pippen passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at 2:06 p.m. in Shreveport surrounded by her family.
Eula Marie Heaton Pippen was born in Gary, TX on June 2, 1915 to Walter Thomas and Lula Mae Heath Heaton. She was reared in Gary, graduated from Carthage High School and later attended East Texas State Teacher's College in Commerce. She married Billy Burt Pippen on June 12, 1937 and they celebrated almost 57 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on May 1, 1994. Mrs. Pippen began her career working as a secretary for the Panola County Superintendent of Schools. In November 1951 she and her husband established Pippen Motor Company where she worked alongside him as a bookkeeper for many years.
She was a devoted member of Central Baptist Church and worked with young children in Sunday school for many years. She was also a faithful member of her Sunday school class. Mrs. Pippen was a member of the Sewing Circle in Carthage, which brought her much enjoyment. She was a kind, gentle, and gracious southern lady who will be remembered for her love of church, family, and friends.
Mrs. Pippen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four sisters; Mrs. Anabel Adams, Mrs. Thelma Brooks, Mrs. Opal Wylie, and Mrs. Maudelle Covington, and three brothers; S.O. (Buck) Heaton, James Lake Heaton, and Walter Thurman Heaton.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Walta Nell Pippen Cooke and her husband, John William Cooke II; two grandchildren, Cheryl Pippen Cooke Williams and John William Cooke III and his wife Tonya Melton Cooke; three great-grandchildren, Catherine Marie Williams Farmer, Jessica Leigh Williams Pace and her husband Michael Pace, and Ali Ann Jones; and one great-great-grandson, Bryce Burton Farmer.
Her survivors also include two sisters, Mrs. Jo Yates of Shreveport, LA and Mrs. Helen Beaty, one brother-in-law and his wife, Fred and Dorothy Pippen, and one special cousin, Saralyn Moore and her husband Ben Moore of Amarillo. She will also be remembered by several nieces, nephews and loving friends.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her caregivers, Mrs. Olean Luman and Mrs. Bea Copeland and their gratitude to the staff at Briarcliff Healthcare Center. Special acknowledgement needs to be given to her physicians, Dr. Keith Keeling and Dr. Germain Cassiere of Shreveport.
Pallbearers will be her nephews Roy Adams, Larry Heaton, Tommy Heaton, Mike Yates, Pat Yates, and great grandson-in-law Michael Pace.
Honorary pallbearers with be Mondee Adams, John Cain, Larry Davis, Tim Harkrider, Dr. Keith Keeling, James McKelvey, and Stan Wylie.
