Funeral services for Mrs. Eula Ree McClendon Hicks, age 82 of Beckville, Texas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Bethel C.M.E. Church in Beckville under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Bethel Cemetery near Beckville. Mrs. Hicks passed away on Monday afternoon, December 1, 2008 in Carthage.
Eula Ree McClendon Hicks was born on October 3, 1926 in Beckville, Texas to Chester and Nancy Mae Rocquemore McClendon. She graduated from Beckville High School with the class of 1944 and attended Panola College, where she earned her L.V.N. degree. She married Clyde Hicks and he preceded her in death on March 12, 1995. Mrs. Hicks lived all of her life in Panola County and was a member of Bethel C.M.E. Church and the Heroines of Jericho. She was also preceded in death by one son, Artis Hicks and one daughter, Ethelene Hicks.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by three children, Ira LaDine Woodard of Sacramento, CA, Clyde (Lamar) Hicks and wife Pamela of Lewisville, and Elaine H. Manning and husband Darrell of Marshall; one brother, Ellworth McClendon of Longview; one sister, Annie Ruth Moore and husband Willie of Houston; nine grandchildren, Shannon Hicks, Cornelia Hicks, LaShondra Manning, Yvonne Nicole Woodard, Shenia Hicks, Erica Hicks, Jacque Hicks, Karl Hicks, and Kyle Hicks; and six great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Hicks.
Serving as pallbearers are the Masonic Lodges of Texas and Louisiana.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Cyrano Barryer, Rob Adams, Brinson Adams, Lue C. Westmoreland, Jerome Barryer, Ira L. Jinks, Lamar Hicks, Shannon Hicks, Christopher King, Ricke Norris, James Sirls, Alvin Hicks, Joe Glenn Hicks, David Hicks, and Raymond Hicks.
