A funeral service for Mrs. Esther Ruth Deegear, 89, of Carthage, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Richard Pruitt officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Deegear passed away on Saturday morning, Sept. 19, 2015, in Carthage.
Esther Ruth McGregor Deegear was born on July 25, 1926, in West Station, TX to the late William Richard and Estie Mae Sullins McGregor. She attended Corsicana Schools and worked as a nurse until her retirement. Mrs. Deegear married Edwin Eugene Korenek and he preceded her in death in 1978 and she later married Don Deegear and he preceded her in death in 1990. Mrs. Deegear loved working with her plants. She moved to the area in 2000 from Waco and was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church of Carthage. She was also preceded in death by 7 sisters and a grandson, Destry Ray Harris.
Mrs. Deegear is survived by her daughters, Jean Medlin and husband Randy of Carthage and Ann Maurer and husband Richard of Jacksonville, FL; sons, Donald Korenek and wife Kathleen of Benbrook and Sam Meeker and wife Fran of Gatlinburg, TN; brother, Tommy McGregor of Desoto, TX; 17 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Aaron Williams, Blake Williams, Kris Douglas, Robert Bynum, Tommy McGregor, Jr., and Sumner Roe.
Honorary pallbearers are Travis Korenek, Robert Robb, Jacob Robb, and K.C. Melton.
