Funeral services for Mrs. Essie Lee Allison, age 80, of the Fair Play Community in Panola County, TX, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Hubert Owens officiating. Interment will follow in Old Bethel Cemetery near Clayton, TX. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Allison passed away on Friday, July 20, 2012.
Essie Lee Lewis Allison was born on April 2, 1932, in the Pine Hill Community of Rusk County, TX to John Lewis and Nancy Tatum Lewis. She married Elijah Allison, Jr. and he preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2003. Mrs. Allison lived her lifetime in Panola County. Mrs. Allison was a caregiver at Panola Nursing Home in the late 1970's. She enjoyed gardening and loved Pepsi and Coke soft drinks. Mrs. Allison was a wonderful mother to all of her grandchildren, as well as her children. She was a member of the Pine Hill C.O.G.I.C. Mrs. Allison was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and three sisters.
Mrs. Allison is survived by five sons, Willie Allison (Winnie) of Fair Play; Roy Chester Allison of Carthage, Larry Charles Allison of Carthage, John Allison of Henderson, and Timmy Allison (Steen) of Tatum; four daughters, Dorothy Allison of Carthage, Lue Doris Swindle of Carthage, Charlene Ingram (Lesley) of Carthage, and Shirley Allison of Longview; one brother, A.D. Lewis of Pine Hill; one sister, Thelma Pruitt (Buster) of Houston; 37 grandchildren; 78 great-grandchildren; and special friends Velma Holland and Helen Pope. Numerous great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Allison.
Serving as pallbearers are John Allison, Jr., Jarvis Barnes, Tyrel Mosley, Larry Allison, Jr. Dewayne Allison, and Ja'Marcus Roberson. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Lesley Ingram, Clarence Thompson, John L. Oliver, Rodrick Taylor, Daviane Parker, Granson Allison and Tristan Gatlin.
