A funeral service for Mr. Ernest Lynn Franks, age 89, of DeBerry, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Rehobeth United Methodist Church with Rev. James Littleton officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Rehobeth Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Franks passed away on Sunday night, Apr. 28, 2013, in Carthage.

Ernest Lynn Franks was born on Apr. 4, 1924, in Evant County, TX to Lester LeRoy and Georgia Ann Elam Franks. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged. Mr. Franks married Mary Kathryn Trice on Oct. 3, 1947, in LaPorte, TX. He worked as a carpenter until his retirement. Mr. Franks loved gardening and raising cattle. He moved to DeBerry in 1985, from Pasadena, TX and was a member of the Rehoboth United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Lou Ray Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ramona Lemke and Frances Golden.

Mr. Franks is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Franks of DeBerry; one son, Doug Franks and wife Mitzi of Deer Park; two brothers, Robert Franks of Houston and Donald Franks and wife Wanda of Crosby; one sister, Anne Harris and husband Kenneth of Conroe; sister-in-law, Peggy Chambers of Beckville; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Franks.

Serving as pallbearers are Cory D'Wayne Franks, Cody D'Lane Franks, Craig Austin, Jim Powell, Joe Allen Franks, and James Moon.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are the members of the Lou Ray Sunday School Class.
