Era Mae Allison, 80, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Friday night, June 21, 2019, in Carthage. Era Mae Black was born on April 29, 1939, in Panola County, TX to the late Fanne and Mary Magaline Bell Black. She attended Carthage schools. Era Mae married Lee Arctic Allison and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Allison was a very talented musician and played the piano for many area churches. She lived most of her lifetime in Panola County and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church near Carthage. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sister, Gloria Endmond.
Survivors include her sisters, Deary Mae Allison and Shirley Davis; nieces, Merilyn Strong and Maeretha Palmer; sisters-in-law, Earline McCoy, Regina Allison and Faye Allison; and brothers-in-law, Jesse Allison, Tommy Allison, and Rev. Raymond Allison. Numerous cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Allison.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Bell officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Tenaha, TX. A viewing will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are Leon Allison, Rayon Allison, Rog Lee Allison, Kendarous Allison and John Edmond.
