Funeral services for Mr. Emory Ross, age 93 of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at Rehobeth United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack McMahon officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Rehobeth Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Ross passed away on Wednesday evening, December 3, 2008 in Carthage.
Emory Abner Ross was born on October 14, 1915 in Panola County, Texas to Ocie and Willie Jo Metcalf Ross. Mr. Ross attended the Rehobeth School. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during WWII and was honorably discharged. Mr. Ross married Amy Loraine Lindsey on January 27, 1946 in San Antonio. He and Mrs. Ross owned and operated a service station in Carthage for many years. Mr. Ross lived in Carthage most of his life, where he was the oldest living member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nell Schweikhardt and Billie Ross.
Mr. Ross is survived by his wife of 62 years, Amy Ross of Carthage; two sons, Bobby Saddler and wife Mellie of Keithville and Roger Sadler and wife Sandra of Carthage; one sister, Mary Holland and husband Jerry of Carthage; five grandchildren, Farrell Sadler and wife Lesley, Debra Anderson and husband Joey, Steven Sadler and wife Lacy, Missy Moore, and John Fred Saddler; four great-grandchildren, Casey Sadler, Sarah Anderson, Sam Anderson, and Christopher Noble; and one nephew, Todd Schweikhardt. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Ross.
Serving as pallbearers are Bubba Sadler, Scooter Sadler, John Fred Saddler, Joey Anderson, Jeff O'Neal, and Robert Earl Smith. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Todd Schweikhardt, Charlie Walden, Mike Dartez, Lynn Vincent, Jerry Holland, and Ray Chamness.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of ETMC Carthage and Heart's Way Hospice of Carthage for the loving care shown to Mr. Ross.
