Mr. Emit Leonard George, 87 years of Carthage, Texas passed away on Saturday morning, December 3, 2016, in Carthage, Texas. He was born on May 31, 1929, in Denton, Texas to the late William Morgan and Virgie Luvina Phillips George. He graduated from Sanger High School with the class of 1946. He served his country in the National Guard and later in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He married Billie Ruth McDaniel on Feb. 14, 1949, in Denton and she preceded him in death on Nov. 17, 2012. Mr. George worked as a foreman at General Motors, retiring after 37 years. He loved being with his family and listening to gospel music. He was also preceded in death by a son, William Leonard George.

Survivors include daughter, Annette Bush and husband Tom of Lake Murvaul; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
