Graveside services for Mrs. Marie Newsom, age 81 years of Carthage, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at Restland Memorial Park with Greg Peay officiating. Interment will follow the services under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Mrs. Newsom passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2006 in Carthage.
Mrs. Newsom was born on April 10, 1925 in Oakhurst, Texas to Amon and Minnie Allen Copeland. She worked as a poodle groomer and also taught poodle grooming at Panola College for many years. She married Joseph Frank Newsom. Mrs. Newsom was also very active in the humane society. She loved working in her yard and caring for her animals. Mrs. Newsom was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on January 5, 1986, and numerous siblings.
Mrs. Newsom is survived by her sister, Mae Dell Salter of Nederland, Texas; her brother, George W. Copeland of Houston, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives also survive.
