Ella Jane Nail Burgess, 59, of Gary, passed away on Saturday, July 28, 2018, in Tyler. She was born on July 12, 1959, in Rockwall to Corbin James and Lillie Mae McDaniel Nail. Mrs. Burgess attended Carthage Schools and Panola College where she completed the cosmetology and CNA programs. She married Dale Edward Burgess on Aug. 7, 1976, and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2005. Mrs. Burgess worked at area nursing homes for many years.  She loved to BBQ for her family and friends. Mrs. Burgess lived most of her lifetime in Panola County and was a member of River of Life Church. She was preceded in death by her father; her husband; and a brother, James Edwin Nail.

Survivors include her mother, Lillie Mae French of Carthage; sons, Jimmy Dale Burgess and wife Angel of Gary and Brandon Lee Burgess and wife Jeri of Carthage; brother, David Earl Lawless of Carthage; sisters, Jean Hunter and husband Roger of Carthage, Sally Ann Fuselier and husband Boo of Carthage, Cindy Figley and her friend Barron Riebe of Longview, and Dotzie Davis of Carthage; grandchildren, Bryan Stewart Burgess, James Edward Burgess, and Jaxson Lee Burgess; special friend, Bruce Bryant of Gary; and extended family, DeAnna Baker Elliott of North Dakota and her brothers, Colby, Kaleb, and Kagan of Carthage.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Von Vernon officiating. Interment will follow in Carthage City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Gavin Burgess, Roger Hunter, Boo Fuselier, Bruce Bryant, Barron Riebe, David Lawless, and James Nail. Honorary pallbearers are Bryan, James, and Jaxson Burgess.
