Mrs. Heard passed away on her birthday, Monday evening, June 17, 2013, in Carthage.
Elizabeth Anne Brewster Heard was born on June 17, 1929, in the Del Ray Community of Panola County to the late Joseph Gussie and Maggie Bea Lawrence Brewster. She married Leonard June Heard on Oct. 11, 1947, in Carthage and he preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 1994. Anne was a devout Christian, having joined Ebenezer United Methodist Church at an early age and faithfully served this church as long as her health permitted. She served as church pianist, Sunday school teacher, and for several years as the Methodist Youth Fellowship sponsor. She was an outstanding baker and for many years was called upon to bake wedding cakes at which she was very talented and got much pleasure from building a beautiful cake. Anne lived her entire life just across the road from the old home place where she was born. Her father and mother lived less than a quarter mile up the road and she took it upon herself to care for them in their later years. She was also preceded in death by her son, Ronney Lyn Heard; two brothers, Lenvol Alan and Freddie Hugh Vaughn Brewster; and two sisters, Maurine Pellham and Pansy Betty Hollar.
Mrs. Heard is survived by two sisters, Jerri Linda Tompkins of Carthage and Freddie "Cookie" Steele and husband John of Longview and one brother, Jackie Brewster and wife Jere of Longview. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews and her dear friends, Travis and LaVerne Wall, who treated her as if she were family and she did so treasure their friendship. She was loved by so many.
Serving as pallbearers are Terry Holland, Tim Holland, Wayne Brewster, Dan Ross, Travis Wall, Royce Ross, Walter Parker, and Ricky Pride.
