A graveside service for Mr. Edwin Earl Lounsberry, age 90 of Carthage, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Youngblood Cemetery with Brother Rodger Cole officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Lounsberry passed away on Sunday evening, April 22, 2007 in Carthage.
Edwin Earl Lounsberry was born on November 17, 1916 in Sour Lake, Texas to Charley W. and Mitilda Wilma Moore Lounsberry. Mr. Lounsberry worked for and later retired from Livingston Ship Building in Orange, Texas where he worked as a ship builder and welder. He also worked as a boiler maker, pipe fitter, and burner for Bethlehem Steel Company of Beaumont, Texas and many years ago, Mr. Lounsberry worked in the oil field industry. He served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II and was honorably discharged. Mr. Lounsberry moved to Carthage in 1987 and where he later met and married Mrs. Vivian Lois Tompkins. They were married on September 2, 1989 in Longview, Texas and she preceded him in death on January 23, 2007. Mr. Lounsberry loved to hunt and fish. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church.
Mr. Lounsberry is survived by two daughters, Ann Glass and husband Jim of Orange, Texas and Connie Hughes and husband Sonny of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; four sisters, Verlee Whittington and husband Edward of Sour Lake, Texas, Veda Carney of Sour Lake, Texas, Charlene Hoss of Shiro, Texas, and Beverly Ann Backs and husband Warren of Huachuca, Arizona; four granddaughters; one grandson; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Sixteen nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Lounsberry.
