Edward Johns, Jr., 62, of Carthage, Texas, formerly of Blackhawk, Colorado, passed away Wednesday evening, August 23, 2023, in Longview. Edward James Johns, Jr. was born on December 27, 1960, in Denver, Colorado to Edward James Johns, Sr. and Grace Huff Johns. He attended Denver schools. Edward married Andrea Rae Shumaker on July 23, 1993, in Blackhawk. While in Colorado, he worked as an electrician, technician, and in general maintenance for area casinos, including the Red Dolly and Blackhawk Station.  After moving to Texas in 2011, Edward opened a golf cart repair shop, and a U-Haul business. Later, he worked for Carthage ISD as a custodian. He loved the outdoors, animals, hunting and fishing. He also loved woodworking and he could build anything. Edward was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Andrea Johns; children, Amanda Myers and husband David and Shannon Kirkland and husband Rondall; grandchildren, Kimberly Russell and husband Wayne, Chase Myers and wife Natasha, Zak Kirkland, Erin Frederick and husband Chuck, Seth Kirkland and wife Jade, Clay Myers and wife Heaven, Rebecca Gunby and husband Cody, Eric Knight, and Jacob Knight; and 19 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
