A funeral service for Mrs. Edith Nelwyn Brown Parker, 90, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Edge, Bro. Travis Arden, and Bro. Fred McRae officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service. Mrs. Parker passed away on Monday night, Dec. 15, 2014, in Carthage.
Edith Nelwyn Brown Parker was born on Oct. 24, 1924, in the Brooks Community in Panola County, TX to the late Bernice Roy and Bonnie Irene Gentry Brown. She graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1942. Mrs. Parker married Rev. Alfred Jennings "Pat" Parker on Jan. 16, 1943, and he preceded her in death on March 12, 1998. Mrs. Parker was a pastor's wife and, with her husband, served in churches throughout Texas prior to their returning home to the Brooks Community in 1967, where she was a member of the Brooks Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Parker is survived by two sons, Dale Parker and wife Cindy of Midlothian and Mike Parker and wife Karen of Carthage; one brother, Roy Gene Brown of Henderson; one sister, Rosemary Luker and husband Weldon of Carthage; 9 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Parker.
Serving as pallbearers are Mrs. Parker's grandsons.
