Obituary
Funeral services for Mrs. Eddie Mae (Shaw) Jones, age 86, of the Fairplay Community of Panola County, TX, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at the First Assembly Church of God in Christ with Rev. Kerry Allison and Bishop Hubert Owens officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Jerusalem Fairplay Cemetery in Fairplay. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. The Lord called Eddie into everlasting rest on Wednesday night, February 3, 2010, in Longview.
Eddie Mae Shaw Jones was born on April 10, 1923, in Beckville, TX to Edgar and Martha Winding Shaw. She was educated in the Fairplay schools. Mrs. Jones married LeRoy Jones on September 6, 1950, and they adopted a granddaughter in later years. Mr. Jones preceded her in death on March 25, 1983. She worked diligently as a housekeeper for years. She united with Jerusalem Baptist Church at an early age. Sis. Jones made Jesus Christ her personal Lord and Savior. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed cooking, fishing, and gardening. She was also preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Regurtis, Frank, and Robert Noble and Jessie and Woodrow Owens; and five sisters, Florene Owens, Mary Jane Tatum, Lessie Mae Armstrong, Bernice Williams, and Juanita Hill.
Mrs. Jones is survived by one son, Connie L. Hudson and wife Nonie of Carthage; two daughters, Shirley A. Berry and husband Perry of Beckville and Sharonda L. Jones and husband Jeff of Big Sandy; five grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one special great-great grandchild. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Jones.
Serving as pallbearers are Terrance Bledsoe, Jeffery Trailer, Earington Mumphrey, Vincent Celestine, Rodney Wright, and O'Dell Session.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Connie L. Hudson, Perry L. Berry, III, Andre' Lewis, Rodney Wright, Jr., Ryan Wright, Patrick Session, Tristan Durden, Andrew Lewis, Calvin Bradley, Jalen Brooks, and Braylon Session.
