Charles Whitley, 75, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Friday afternoon, Jan. 18, 2019, in Shreveport. Earnest Charles Whitley was born on Jan. 22, 1943, in Beckville, TX to the late Earnest Woodrow Whitley, Sr. and Mamie D. Glover Whitley. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1961, and attended Panola College. Charles served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He owned and operated Whitley Trucking in Carthage until his retirement. Charles loved hunting and fishing. He was of the Baptist Faith. Charles was also preceded in death by his brother, Earnest Woodrow Whitley, Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; step-children, Michelle and A.R. Bellamy; grandchildren, Madison and Dylan: God-son, Jake Kneipp; son-in-law, Chris Wilkins; aunt, Ella Cravens; and special cousins, Richard Holland and Joyce Pellum.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at Friendship Cemetery with Bro. Bob Scott officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Honorary pallbearers are Sam Strong, Jimmy Copeland, Richard Holland, Jimmy Woods, Bobby Cheatwood, Chris Wilkins, Elton Weems, Larry Joe Davis, and Aaron Hicks.
