Obituary

Earl Milton Scarborough, 85, of the Riderville community, of Panola County, Texas, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, October 8, 2025, in Carthage, Texas. Earl was born on June 21, 1940, in Henderson, Texas, to George Milford Scarborough and Ruby Lawrence Scarborough. He grew up in the Fair Play Community, attending the Fair Play School and Carthage High School. In 1963, Earl married the love of his life, Londa. This year, on September 17, they celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. Shortly after their marriage, Earl proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965. Earl and Londa had two children and later raised their nephew as their own: Alan Scarborough of Carthage, Jeff Scarborough of Carthage, and Eric Nichols of Marshall. In 1976, Earl started his own business. He owned and operated ABC Wreckers in Panola County for 35 years before retiring in 2012. He loved Carthage and Panola County and never wished to live anywhere else. Earl had a lifelong passion for motorcycles. He was often seen riding through Riderville or around town in Carthage, enjoying the open road. His greatest joys were riding alongside his sons and cheering on the Carthage Bulldogs. A devoted fan, Earl rarely missed a football game and will forever be remembered for his Bulldog spirit—one that now carries on from Heaven. Earl's love for his family, his community, and his Bulldogs will always be remembered. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion, hard work, and loyalty to the people and places he held dear.

Earl was preceded in death by his father, George Milford Scarborough, his mother, Ruby Young of Kilgore and his sister, Linda Scarborough Grant of Gladewater.

Earl is survived by his wife, Londa Scarborough, son Alan Scarborough and Stuart Thresher of Carthage, son Jeff Scarborough and Mechel Scarborough of Carthage, Nephew, Eric Nichols and Tasha Nichols of Marshall.
