Earl Long Robinson, 88, of Gary, passed away on Thursday morning, April 6, 2017, in Carthage. He was born on Jan. 3, 1929, in Long Branch to the late Jesse and Mattie Pearl Long Robinson. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mr. Robinson married Phyllis Ann Langley on Dec. 6, 1952. In his early years, Earl worked for Drew Woods and later was a plumbing contractor in the Bryan College Station area for over 35 years until his retirement. He was a former member of the Beacon Baptist Church in Bryan. Earl moved back to Panola County in 2005, where he enjoyed farming and ranching, hunting and fishing, and mostly spending time with his family. He was a master mason, a member of the V.F.W. and the Longview Commandry. Earl was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Clayton where he served on the building and grounds committee. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Bill Robinson, Sue Armstrong, Robert Louis Robinson, and Jesse Robinson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Phyllis Robinson; son, Bruce Earl Robinson and wife Buffi of Edina, MN; daughter, Judy Caskey and husband Mack of Texarkana; sister, Martha Hight of Carthage; grandchildren, Jacob and Hallie Robinson, Kimberly Teer and husband Steve, and Ashley Carozza and husband Mark; great-grandchildren, Anna and Callie Teer and Carly, Carter, and Carson Carozza; and great-great grandchild, Aubrie Teer.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dock Lazarine and Bro. Eric Pledger officiating. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
Pallbearers are Chuck Dean, Randy Rychlik, Josh Rychlik, Jake Robinson, Richard Zgabay, Roy Garcia, Blane Dawson, and Hallie Robinson.
Honorary pallbearers are Acie Hennigan, Kim Hennigan, Candi Dawson, Kay Mauritzen, Mary Mauritzen, Carolyn Marx, Tracey Tinkle, Peggy Tinkle, Grady Wills, Betty Wills, Scott Davis, and Rick Davis.
