A funeral service for Ms. DuRonda Mernette Westmoreland, age 44, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenn Hood officiating. Interment will follow at Holland's Quarters Cemetery near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Ms. Westmoreland passed away on Saturday afternoon, March 9, 2013, in Longview.
DuRonda Mernette Westmoreland was born on July 2, 1968, in Dallas, TX to Charles Chester and Willie Pearl Westmoreland. She graduated from Tatum High School with the class of 1986, and attended Panola College in Carthage where she earned her cosmetology certificate. DuRonda was the First Lady and Vice-President of the local chapter of the NAACP. She enjoyed reading books. DuRonda loved her nieces and nephews dearly. She has lived most of her life in Panola County and was a member of the First Assembly C.O.G.I.C. near Carthage.
DuRonda is survived by her mother, Willie Pearl Westmoreland of Beckville; three brothers, Ozell Holland, Jr., Xavier Holland, and Aliclato Westmoreland all of Beckville; four sisters, Cynthia Westmoreland and Latonya Rene'e Chester both of Dallas and Alynthia Holland and Zanobia Jones and husband Jamar all of Beckville; step-dad, Michael Nickelberry; special cousin, Samara Phillips; five nieces, Izsanami Smith, Zarionne Glenn, McKyiah Jones, Adryannah Jones, and Lexis Modkins; four nephews, Tristan Durden, Jeremiah Jones, Traveon Jones, and Zavoric Glenn; and special friends, Floyd Starling and Mikal Moore.
Serving as pallbearers are Tyan Simpson, Kennis Mumphrey, Jabbarr Philips, Clifford Bowman, Von Eric Walton, Earlington Mumphrey, Ronathan Mumphrey, Tyreese Williams, Lee Cooper, and Kendrick Wilson.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Ozell Holland, Jr., Aliclato Westmoreland, Xavier Westmoreland, and Tristan Durden.
