Drew Darnell, 70, of Carthage, TX, passed away on Sunday night, Dec. 27, 2020, at his home in Carthage. Gordon Andrew "Drew" Darnell was born on Aug. 4, 1950, in Shreveport, LA to Gordon Louis and Evelyn Harwood Darnell. He graduated from Carthage High School with the class of 1968, and attended Sam Houston State University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business. Drew married Donna Soape on July 28, 1973, in Carthage. He began his career with Darnell Lumber Co. in Carthage. After the lumber business, Drew enjoyed a 36 year career as a measurement technician in the oil and gas field, retiring in 2016. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir. Drew was preceded in death by his father.

He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Darnell of Carthage; wife, Donna Darnell of Carthage; sons, Chad Darnell and wife Lisa of Carthage and Daryl Darnell and wife Sarah of Celina; sister, Karen Poole and husband Don of Carthage; and grandchildren, Dylan, Remington, and Evie Lyn Darnell.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Monty Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
