Funeral services for Mrs. Dovie Jo McDaniel, age 77 of the Antioch Community near Carthage, Texas will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 2, 2007 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Rodger Cole officiating. Interment will follow in the Antioch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. McDaniel passed away Wednesday night, January 31, 2007 at her residence in the Antioch Community.

Dovie Jo Haney McDaniel was born on December 23, 1929 in the Snap Community near Carthage, Texas to Cleve and Winnie Carter Haney. She attended Panola County schools. She married Harvey Lee McDaniel on February 13, 1945 in Carthage. Mrs. McDaniel had lived her lifetime in Panola County where she was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by her father who passed away on August 18, 1994; her grandson, Eric McDaniel who passed away on October 29, 1999; and her husband, who passed away on December 15, 2005.

Mrs. McDaniel is survived by her mother, Winnie Haney of Longview formerly of Carthage; two daughters, Jo Ann Swindull and husband Mickey of Rockville, Maryland and Linda Neely and husband Kenneth of Athens; two sons, Jerry McDaniel of Carthage and Ty McDaniel and wife Lori of Carthage; one brother, Glenn Haney and wife Margaret of Longview; one sister, Betty Sue Hudman of Longview; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers are Brandon McDaniel, Kevin McDaniel, David Haney, Jeremy Whitehurst, Shane Whitehurst, and Kenneth Neely.
