Obituary
Graveside services for Dorothy Corley Smith Pippen will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, 2007 at Restland Memorial Park Cemetery near Carthage with Reverend Paul Thomasson of First Methodist Church of Carthage officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home on Sunday prior to the graveside services. Mrs. Pippen passed away on Friday, August 31, 2007 in Bossier, LA.
Mrs. Pippen was born in Tenaha, Texas on March 29, 1919 to James Larkin and Adeline Corley Smith. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Carthage and was employed by the Carthage Independent School District for twenty-two years as a secretary at Libby Elementary School. Mrs. Pippen married Fred Ross Pippen on November 3, 1940 and they celebrated almost 67 years of marriage. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Pauline Mays of Crandall, Texas and Frances Crawford of San Antonio, Texas; brother-in-law, Billy Burt Pippen; and sister-in-law, Eula Pippen.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Ross Pippen of Carthage; one daughter, Lynda Jane Pippen Timms and her husband Michael D. Timms of Bossier City, LA; three grandchildren, Shannon Timms Oliphint and her husband, Troy Oliphint, Katye Timms Hamby and her husband, Ben Hamby, of Benton, LA, and Michael Timms, Jr. and his wife Tiffany Timms of Bossier City, LA; five great-grandchildren, Olivia Jane Oliphint, Ava Gwyneth Oliphint, Sadie Adeline Hamby, Madison Paige Timms and Tanner Jacob Timms. She is also survived by one sister, Jimmie Larkin Smith of San Antonio, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael Timms, Jr., Troy Oliphint, Ben Hamby, John William Cooke II, John William Cooke III, and K. C. Kyle.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all of the staff at Garden Court Nursing Center and especially to Karla Breland (George).
