IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dorothy Annette
"Sissy" Edgmon
August 2, 1936 – January 21, 2010
Dorothy was born in Pawhuska, OK of Native American heritage on Aug. 2, 1936, and remained a tribal member of the Cherokee Nation. She was an authentic western woman raised on a ranch in the Imperial Valley of California. An accomplished swimmer and equestrian, Dorothy loved the outdoors and the true country way of life. She married her childhood sweetheart, Bill Edgmon, on Aug. 3, 1952. In 57 years of marriage, Bill and Dorothy were not only husband and wife, but were also best friends and totally inseparable. They moved to Tatum from Orange County, CA in 1974. A stranger to no one, her house was always full of family, friends, and acquaintances. Her door was always open and her life was spent with concern for others over herself. Dorothy was a savvy and formidable woman; respected by everyone with whom she came in contact. From insurance broker to president of a trucking and transport company, she was a "force to be reckoned with" in issues regarding both family and business. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The happiness and welfare of her family were her primary goals in life. Children and grandchildren could depend on her solid advice, counsel, and unconditional love. She not only earned the respect, love, and admiration of her parents and sisters, but was also considered a daughter and sister in the hearts of her husband's family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Ben Redden and Woody Bussey; one son, Michael Neal Edgmon; and her beloved grandparents, Dorothy and Arney Parks.
Mrs. Edgmon is survived by her husband, William Neal Edgmon of Tatum; three daughters, Dixie Davis and husband Dave of Dothan, AL, Vickie Lynn Edgmon of Tatum, and Dale Edgmon and husband Travis Thomas of Chandler, AZ; one son, Guy William Edgmon and wife Shelby of Hallsville; nine grandchildren, Ashley Davis, Derek Bartley, Jacquelyn Bell, Dagan Bell, Joshua Neal Flowers and wife Melanie, Chelsea Flowers and fiancé Eric Hildreth, Taylor Smith, Kylee Edgmon, and Raynee Edgmon; four great-grandchildren, Hailey Flowers, Reagan Flowers, Mason Flowers, and Victorian Hildreth; and two sisters, Corky Larson and husband Dale of Nevada and Billy Jean Brown of California. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends also survive Mrs. Edgmon.
The Edgmon, Larson, and Brown family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support. Your kindness is a testament to this wonderful woman.
Serving as pallbearers are Joshua Flowers, Derek Bartley, Dagan Bell, Taylor Smith, Travis Reeves, and Adam Sipes.
