Dorothy Keeling, 95, of Carthage, went to her eternal home with Jesus on Monday morning, May 8, 2017, in Carthage. Dorothy Ann Hamilton Keeling was born on March 29, 1922, in Rusk County to the late Crawford Parks and Dola Georgia Dillon Hamilton. Mrs. Keeling worked as a bookkeeper for Worthington Plumbing from 1980 until April of 2017. She moved to Carthage in 1953 from Waco, at which time she joined Central Baptist Church, where she remained a faithful member through the years. She was active in the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. Mrs. Keeling had a servant's heart and ministered to family, friends, and those in need, by being a prayer warrior and a great encourager. She was married to James Leonard Keeling for 43 years before he preceded her in death in Oct. 1982. She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Dillon W. and Mayme Hamilton and niece, Mary John Portwood.
She is survived by her niece, Thelma Jo Hanks and her loving extended family and many special friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Gwinn officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Rusk County. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
Pallbearers are Dr. Keith Keeling, Don Keeling, Ray Schieffer, Bill Arnold, and John Crisp. Honorary pallbearers are Jerel Worthington, John W. Cooke, III, and Gene Giles.
