Dorothy Helen "Dory" Dillon Faux was born on Apr. 2, 1921, in East St. Louis, IL, the eldest of three daughters of the late Patrick Henry and Ruth Ann Pepper Dillon. Dory graduated from East St. Louis High School with the class of 1939. She married George Foster and together they had five children before he preceded her in death. Dory married George B. Faux on Nov. 11, 1961, in Des Moines, IA. She worked for the Federal Government as a budget analyst and retired after 25 years of service. Dory and George traveled extensively to the forty-eight contiguous states and Hawaii, the British Isles, Canada, the Caribbean, and Mexico. They moved to Carthage in 1987, from Creve Coeur, MO and joined Central Baptist Church. After receiving a diagnosis of dementia and ultimately Alzheimer's disease, she lived for the last eight years at Marian Place in Carthage where severe early memory loss contributed to a lesser quality of life. Mrs. Faux was also preceded in death by her youngest son, Jarrett Reed Foster, who died in Nov. of 1994 and two sisters, Vivian Maddux and Evelyn Tweedy who both died in 2010.
Mrs. Faux is survived by the love of her life and husband for over 49 years, George B. Faux of Carthage; four children, Ruth Ellen Kellogg and husband Paul of Bloomingdale, MI, Carmen Jo Randolph and George Joseph Foster both of Independence, MO, and John Darryl Foster and wife Marian of Carthage, TX; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Faux.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff and nurses of Marian Place in Carthage for the loving care given to Mrs. Faux for the past eight years.
If desired, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, 220 W. Sabine, Carthage, TX 75633.
