Funeral services for Mrs. Doris Heard Anderson, age 76, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Anderson and Bro. Bob Scott officiating. Interment will follow in Youngblood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Anderson passed away on Friday afternoon, Dec. 31, 2010, in Carthage.
Emma Doris Heard Anderson was born on March 1, 1934, in Clayton, TX to Marshall E. and Florence Platt Heard. She attended Carthage schools. Mrs. Anderson married Rev. Lee Roy Anderson, Sr. on Jan. 2, 1950, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1997. She lived most of her life in Panola County and was a member of the Youngblood Freewill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Mrs. Anderson was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Rev. Lee Roy Anderson, Jr. on Aug. 9, 2001; two brothers; and three sisters.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by two sons, Michael Keith Anderson of Crockett and Rev. Carl Anderson and wife Tanya of Carthage; one daughter, Cynthia Denise Coots and husband Steve of Carthage; daughter-in-law, Elsa Anderson of Carthage; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mrs. Anderson.
Serving as pallbearers are James Ewing, David Cole, Steven Coots, Tyler Anderson, Josh Anderson, and Jeremy Anderson.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Anderson, Andy Favors, Nick Burnett, and Steve Coots.
