Donny Holland

Donny Holland, age 83, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Tuesday night, November 3, 2026, in Tyler, Texas.

Hurley Don “Donny” Holland was born on July 5, 1943, in Carthage, Texas, to the late Hurley Brown and Monnie Lou Waites Holland. He grew up in the Brooks Community of Panola County and graduated from Beckville High School. A lifelong resident of Panola County, Donny spent his career working as an operator in the oil and gas industry, retiring from United Gas in 1999. He married Debra Sue Mayo, and she preceded him in death on June 17, 1996. On April 18, 1999, Donny married Brenda Gayle Wills at First Freewill Baptist Church, now known as Crosspoint Church, in Carthage. Together, they shared 27 wonderful years of marriage. Donny was a longtime, faithful, and devoted member of Crosspoint Church.

An outdoorsman at heart, Donny enjoyed fishing, hunting, and tending to his cattle. He found great pleasure in the simple things in life and especially treasured time spent with his family. Donny had a playful sense of humor and never missed an opportunity to give those he loved a hard time. His good-natured teasing was just one of the many ways he showed his affection. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and cherished every moment he was able to spend with them. Above all, Donny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose love for his family was evident throughout his life. In addition to his parents and his first wife, Donny was also preceded in death by his daughter, Christie Holland Liles.

Donny is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Wills Holland; children, Rita Kirkpatrick and husband Mark, Tim Holland and wife Shannon, Chad Nations and wife Emily, and Katie Pace and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Hayden Kirkpatrick, Tryston, Ty, and Peyton Holland, Kyrstin Mercer, Kaleb and J.T. Brown, Colin, Cole, Cannon, Catelyn, and Clark Nations, and Konnor, Kooper, and Kolton Pace; great-grandchildren, Axel and Piper; and his beloved dog and faithful companion, Annie.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Waldrop Cemetery with Pastors Jonathan Blankenship and Leroy Blankenship officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tryston Holland, Ty Holland, Hayden Kirkpatrick, Colin Nations, Cole Nations, Cannon Nations, Konnor Pace, Kooper Pace, Clark Nations, and Kolton Pace.
