Don Hogan, age 77, of Carthage, Texas, passed away on Sunday morning, March 30, 2025, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Donald Neil Hogan was born on November 29, 1947, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to the late Harry Ralph and Pauline Creed Hogan. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baton Rouge with the class of 1966, and attended Louisiana State University. Don served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam where he earned two bronze stars with valor before being honorably discharged. He often said, "I didn't ask why we were fighting, I just knew my country called me to serve and that is what I did." He worked as a salesman in the Steel Industry where he met and made lifelong friends. Don married Donette Duke on July 15, 1978, in Angleton, Texas. They moved to Carthage in 2008, from Birmingham, Alabama and were members of the First Baptist Church. After retirement, Don enjoyed barbequing on the grill and cooking on the smoker. He also loved golfing, saltwater fishing, and family beach trips. Don was also preceded in death by daughters, Melissa Brooks and Kristen Seigle.

He is survived by his wife, Donette; daughter, Brandon Conley and husband Romy; sisters, Jan Green and husband Terry, Betty Guillie, and Susie Toman; brother-in-law, J.E. Duke and wife Debra; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Tilley officiating. Interment will follow in Clayton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.

Pallbearers are Romy Conley, Terry Green, Wayne Green, David Kennedy, Tyler Eblen, and Davis Kennedy.
