Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Dessie Lee "Dee" Taylor, age 82 of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2007 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Tilley officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park Cemetery near Carthage. The family will receive friends from. 5-7 p.m. on Sunday evening at the funeral home. Mrs. Taylor passed away on Saturday afternoon, December 1, 2007 in Carthage.

Dessie Lee Settle Taylor was born on July 12, 1925 in Shelby County, Texas near Joaquin to John Edward and Era Belle Bates Settle. Mrs. Taylor graduated as salutatorian from Joaquin High School and attended Panola College where she received her LVN license. She worked at Panola General Hospital in Carthage and later for Dr. W. C. Smith as a nurse for many years. Mrs. Taylor married Cecil Rex Taylor on January 24, 1946 in Center, Texas. She had lived in Carthage since 1947 and was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was a member and past secretary of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Mrs. Taylor was preceded in death by her sister, Bessie Kirkland.

Mrs. Taylor is survived by her husband of 61 years, Cecil Rex Taylor of Carthage; two sons, Ronnie Taylor and wife Darlene of Spring and Randy Taylor and wife Kathy of Austin; and one brother, Glenn Settle and wife Jo of Stonewall, LA; five grandchildren, Lee Anne Taylor Sharpe and husband Patrick of Carthage, Kelly Taylor Simmons and husband Mike of Houston, Charlie Taylor and wife Jenna of Houston, Justin Taylor of Dallas, and Brandon Taylor of Houston; and five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Kelsey, and Kolbey Sharpe, Pierce Randall Simmons, and Canon Rex Taylor. Mrs. Taylor is also survived by her loving caregivers.

Serving as pallbearers are Justin Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Mike Simmons, Eddie Settle, Patrick Sharpe, Charlie Taylor, and Dan Rawls. Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Max Taylor.
