Funeral services for Derek Lee Wiler, age 19 of Carthage, Texas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Hazel Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park near Carthage. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Derek passed away on Saturday afternoon, May 31, 2008 in Tyler due to injuries sustained in an ATV accident.

Derek Lee Wiler was born on April 6, 1989 in Marshall, Texas to Randy Uel and Cessele Yvonne Stewart Wiler. Derek graduated from Panola Charter School on Friday, May 30, 2008. He loved fishing, hunting, and riding four wheelers. He was preceded in death by his father, who passed away on August 17, 1989; maternal grandparents, William Darnell Stewart, Sr. and Wanda Priscilla Foster Stewart; and paternal grandparents, Uel Talmadge Wiler and Ima Fouse Wiler.

Derek is survived by his mother and step-father, Cessele Wiler and Kenneth Norman of Carthage; fiancé, Jennifer Webb of Carthage; three brothers, Randall Wiler and wife Jessica of Marshall, Charles Wiler of Carthage, and Jason Wiler of Woodville; four aunts, Theresa Franks of Carthage, Shirley Bozeman and husband Barry of Carthage, Brenda Mumford and husband Joe of Gladewater, and Linda Wiler of Commerce; one uncle, William Darnell Stewart, Jr. and wife Teddie of the Shady Grove Community; two nieces, Caroline Wiler of Marshall and Tami Nicole Nelson of Carthage; and one nephew, Zacharian Wiler of Carthage. Numerous cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Derek.

Serving as pallbearers are Cody Mullican, Danny Hocutt, Greg Spradley, Carol Stelly, James Johnson, Jim Williams, Buddy Whitlow, and Adam Booten. Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Jeff Wiggins.
