It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Denise Alice (Dunbar) Metcalf, 64, of Tatum, Texas. Denise passed away peacefully, though unexpectedly, at home on Saturday, March 9th, 2024. Denise was a strong and independent free spirit. Her spirituality ran deep. She was very talented with her words and thoughts and could keep you entertained for hours with her deep and insightful thinking. She was patient, kind and caring. Denise had an adventurous spirit, making her way across country and landing in San Francisco where she started her family. The most important thing to Denise was her children, grandchildren and family.  Her wit, sense of humor, and contagious laugh will always be with us. Denise was born in New Haven, CT, on December 20, 1959.  She was the daughter of the late Richard Dunbar, Sr, the late Eleanor (Molleur/Dunbar) Dattilo, and stepdaughter of the late Anthony Dattilo. Her love of cooking was a family trait, having grown up in a home where cooking and sharing food around the table was part of the family tradition.

She was the mother of Holly Kai Metcalf and Sean Littlefield; loving grandmother to Navalita, Kaustyn, Aquaveyon, Shanice, Frankie and Skyler. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, who meant the world to her. She also leaves behind her loving sister, Laura McDonald (Rodger) and her sister-in-law, Kit Dunbar. She was predeceased by her loving brothers, Thomas Dunbar and Richard Dunbar, Jr., and was the loving
aunt of Crystal, Jamie, Kelly, Rodger, and Alec and has many great nieces and nephews.

The family will celebrate her life privately.  Thank you to all who loved her.  She will be truly missed but our bonds remain forever strong.
