A funeral service for Mr. Delma Hight, 87, of Carthage, TX, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro Mike Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery with Bro. Matt Comer officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Mr. Hight passed away on Friday night, May 2, 2014, in Shreveport.
Delma Davis Hight was born on Feb. 7, 1927, in Panola County, TX to the late Isaac Monroe and Bertha Davis Hight. He married Martha Ann Robinson on Jan. 19, 1952, and this year they celebrated their 62
nd
year of marriage. Mr. Hight was retired from Fluor Daniels and had a small engine repair business at his home and was known as "The Lawnmower Man" around town. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, "Biddie"; and nine half-siblings. Mr. Hight was a lifetime member of the Enterprise Baptist Church where he has served as a deacon since 1982.
Mr. Hight is survived by his wife, Martha Hight of Carthage; one son, Jerry Hight and wife Linda of Carthage; three grandsons, Jeremy Hight and wife Stevie, Jesse Hight and wife Anabella, and John Hight and wife Michelle; and three great-grandchildren, Jesse Illan Hight, Haley Peyton Hight, and Lorenzo Alan Hight. Many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends also survive Mr. Hight.
Serving as pallbearers are Jeremy Hight, Jesse Hight, John Hight, Pat Anderson, Tony Hight, and Brent Hight.
Serving as honorary pallbearers are nephews, Larry Dean Maxwell and Donny Paul Maxwell; and Leon Choate, Phillip Crump, and Frank Watts.
