DeeNell Matthews Swanner, 73, of Tatum, TX, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, at her home in Tatum. She was born on June 27, 1947, in Lylestown, MS to the late John Doyle and Corrie Nell Williams Matthews. DeeNell graduated from Tatum High School. She and her uncle, Cecil Williams, ran the Trammel Trace Newspaper and DeeNell continued to operate the newspaper after Mr. Williams passed away. DeeNell lived most of her lifetime in Tatum was of the Baptist faith. She was a kind and loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Malcolm Swanner; son, Kevin Oden of Lake Cherokee; and grandsons, Zach Oden of Longview, Austin Oden and wife Katie of Marshall, and Jake Oden of Lake Cherokee.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, at Tatum Cemetery with Bro. Gary Chambers officiating under the direction of Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home.
