Funeral services for Mr. Dearrel Dean Isbell, age 79 of the Lake Murvaul Community of Panola County, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ken Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Clayton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Isbell passed away on Tuesday morning, July 7, 2009, in Tyler, Texas.
Dearrel Dean Isbell was born on January 8, 1930, in Jones County, Texas to William Henry and Nettie Bell Miers Isbell. He graduated from Gorman High School in Gorman, Texas with the class of 1947. Mr. Isbell served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He married Veda Mignon Jones on December 1, 1950, in Stephenville, Texas. Mr. Isbell worked for the U.S. Government Civil Services Dept. at the Army Depot in Corpus Christi, retiring in May of 1986. He moved to Panola County in 1990. Mr. Isbell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Clayton where he served on the Building and Grounds Committee for many years and where he also enjoyed attending the Adult Sunday School class taught by J.R. Duke. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Isbell was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, William Atlas Isbell, Floyd Samuel Isbell, James Burnis Isbell, and Patrick Henry Isbell; and four sisters, Ruby Lois Rogers, Frances Jewel Isbell, Jeanette Payne, and Nina Mae Brownlee.
Mr. Isbell is survived by his wife of 58 years, Veda M. Isbell of Lake Murvaul; two sons, Dearrel Dewayne Isbell and wife Kathy and Donald Dean Isbell and wife Amber all of Lake Murvaul; one daughter, Janis Ranon Snipes and husband Jack of Aiken, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends also survive Mr. Isbell.
Serving as pallbearers are William J. DeGraw, J.R. Duke, Mark Carter, Keith McIlwain, Charlie Humphries, and David Humphries.
