Dean Jones, 77 of Carthage, TX, passed away on Monday, Feb. 13, 2023, at his home. Edward Dean Jones was born on Sept. 7, 1945, in Gary, TX to the late John Paul and Susie Mae Davis Jones of Gary. He attended both Clayton and Carthage Schools, graduating from Carthage High School with the class of 1964.  Dean married the love of his life, Kay Bolton, on April 12, 1968, in Carthage and together they celebrated 54 years of marriage. Dean served at Carthage I.S.D. for over 25 years as their painter. He was a member of the Carthage Masonic Lodge #521 and Sharon Temple Shrine. Dean was of the Baptist faith. He loved classic cars, vacations to the beach, and working in his yard, but most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his family. Dean thoroughly loved each moment with his grandchildren and long talks and frequent visits with his brother Pat. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Terry Paul Jones and John Allen Jones; and sister, Judy Jones.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kay; son, Jason Jones and wife Sandra; daughter, Mandi Elliott and husband Charles; grandchildren, Olivia and Brandon Jones and Clayton and Ainsley Elliott; brother and best friend, Pat Jones and wife Dianne; and sisters-in-law, Donna and Roma Jones. Numerous nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.

A funeral service with Masonic rites will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Tilley and Allen Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Clayton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Paul Bishop, Bryan Robinson, Henry Robinson, Tom Ball, Thor Portovi, Andy Dawson, and Randy Milford.

Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Holman, Glenn Harrison, Killis LaGrone, Charlie Lawhorn, James Duke, Truman Shirey, Dale Jones, Charles Newton, Ted Mauritzen, Larry Jones, and Roane Smith.
