Daniel Edward Pierce Jr., age 82, of Carthage, Texas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, July 17, 2024, at his home in Carthage. He was born on October 4, 1941, in Moss Point, Mississippi to the late Daniel Edward Pierce Sr. and Jescena Pearl Stevens Pierce. Mr. Pierce married Patsy Ann Rawlinson on October 30, 1965, in Angleton, Texas. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1959-1963. While serving, Daniel received his GED from the Marine Corp in 1960. Mr. Pierce worked many jobs throughout his lifetime including Luminant Mining and Texas Highway Department from which he retired. He was very family oriented and enjoyed camping and traveling. Daniel was affiliated with both the Baptist and Assembly of God faiths. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sheila Gherardini; and siblings, Patricia, Teresa, and Elaine.

Mr. Pierce is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Pat Pierce; children, Vivian Taylor, Daniel Edward Pierce III, and James Autry Wayne Pierce; siblings, Annette Dudley and Michael, Paul and Steve Pierce; grandchildren, Philip Gherardini, Jennifer Brittenham, James Pierce III, Tiffany Stapleton, Daniel Edward Pierce IV, and Emily Pierce; and great grandchildren, Agnes Southard, James Pierce IV, Cheyanne Pierce, Emma Stapleton, and Maverick Stapleton; and one on the way, Emory.

A funeral service with military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Jackson officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Philip Gherardini Sr., Philip Gherardini Jr., James Pierce III, James Pierce IV, Daniel Edward Pierce IV, and Larry Hull.
